JACKSON -- Lillie E. Ray, 87, of Jackson, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, at Jackson Manor. She was born Feb. 12, 1908, in Mississippi, daughter of Abner and Mattie Jackson Trucks. She first married Earl Hayes Sr. in 1926. He died in 1938. She later married Roy H. Ray in 1939. He died in 1984...

JACKSON -- Lillie E. Ray, 87, of Jackson, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, at Jackson Manor.

She was born Feb. 12, 1908, in Mississippi, daughter of Abner and Mattie Jackson Trucks. She first married Earl Hayes Sr. in 1926. He died in 1938. She later married Roy H. Ray in 1939. He died in 1984.

Ray had been a cook at Dye's Restaurant and Kellett Restaurant, both in Sikeston. She was a member of Apostolic Church of Jesus Christ in Morley. She lived in Morley 16 years before coming to Jackson five years ago.

Survivors include three sons, Earl Hayes of Sarasota, Fla., Eugene Ray of Granbury, Texas, Roy Ray of New Bern, N.C.; six daughters, Wilma Clausel of Morris, Ill., Inis Liles of Haines City, Fla., Beth Newell of Jackson, Evelyn Hampton and Marie Stallings of Manila, Ark., Kathryn Bostic of Holtville, Calif.; a brother, Charles Trucks of Sikeston; five sisters, Bessie Buchanan and Hazel Lawson of Jonesboro, Ark., Ann Clark of Walnut, Miss., Grace Willis of Oceanside, Calif., Ocie McDonel of Manila; 29 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, four sisters and three brothers.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Don Russell and George Newell officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery.
