COBDEN, Ill. -- Agnes V. Sitter, 83, of Cobden, died Thursday, July 6, 1995, at Union County Hospital in Anna.

She was born Oct. 19, 1911, in Union County, daughter of John and Chloe Ferrill Hankla.

She and Andre Sitter were married April 18, 1937, at New Madrid, Mo. He died Feb. 6, 1981.

Sitter was a graduate of Cobden High School and Southern Illinois University. She taught school in rural communities for four years. She also taught for more than 42 years in the Cobden Unit School District before retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the Union Congregational Church and Cobden Eastern Star.

Survivors are a sister, Beryl Ormsby, and a nephew, John Ormsby, both of St. Petersburg, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.

Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Clifford Heil will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
