H.L. Gill, 83, of the Lutheran Home, died Tuesday, July 18, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center. He was born Nov. 11, 1911, at Bloomfield, son of Samuel and Harriet Harper Gill. He and Velda Mitchell were married April 24, 1932. She died May 24, 1987...

H.L. Gill, 83, of the Lutheran Home, died Tuesday, July 18, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 11, 1911, at Bloomfield, son of Samuel and Harriet Harper Gill. He and Velda Mitchell were married April 24, 1932. She died May 24, 1987.

Gill had owned and operated several small grocery stores in the area. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church at Dongola.

Survivors include two sons, James Gill of Chaffee, Mitchell Gill of Millersville; two daughters, Audrey James of Jackson, Janet Dunning of Whitewater; a sister, Mammie Skaggs of Farmington; 17 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Park at Cape Girardeau.
