WILSON CITY -- Vertie B. Dowell, 60, of Wilson City, died unexpectedly Tuesday, July 18, 1995, while walking to Wyatt.

She was born June 8, 1935, in Wyatt, daughter of Van and Flora White Fisher.

Dowell was a member of Ollie Grove Baptist Church and its Mothers Board, and served as treasurer.

Survivors include four sons, Richard Fisher of Atlanta, Ga., Otha Fisher of Michigan City, Ind., Clifford Fisher and Terry Dowell of Wilson City; six daughters, Vertie Dowell of Charleston, Verline Dowell of Sikeston, Valorie Greer, Alice Dowell and Lori Dowell of Michigan City, Yvonnie Dowell of Wilson City; two sisters, Fannie Taylor of Charleston, Willie Graham of Mounds, and 12 grandchildren.

Friends may call at Sparks Funeral Home in Charleston from 7-8 p.m. Friday.

Funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Shiloh Baptist Church, with the Rev. Roosevelt Johnson officiating.
