JONESBORO, Ill. -- Jerry D. Atwell, 51, Jonesboro Route 1, died Thursday, July 20, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 22, 1944, in Georgetown, La., son of Wesley and Julie Atwell. He and Naomi Sue Whitney were married Feb. 7, 1987, in Pineville, La.

Atwell was employed at Lee-Rowan in Jackson, Mo. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his wife; three stepdaughters, Sheila Atwell of Anna, Trisha Hess of Karnak, Kathy Merchant of Pineville; two stepsons, Michael Hess of Jonesboro, Jay Allen of Pineville; two brothers, Bobby Atwell of San Jose, Calif., Kenny Atwell of Ball, La., and four grandchildren.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5-9 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kathleen Briscoe officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery south of Jonesboro.
