ST. MARYS -- Catherine Louise Hurst, 88, of St. Marys, died Monday, July 24, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Feb. 21, 1907, at St. Mary's, daughter of Charles R. and Mary Catherine Lawbaugh Bartels. She married Edward R. Hurst, who died July 18, 1991.

Hurst was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, St. Ann's Sodality, and Confraternity of Christians.

Survivors include three sons, Charles Hurst of St. Marys, Richard Hurst of Perryville, Michael Hurst of St. Louis; three daughters, Elizabeth Shafer of Jacksonville, Fla., Mary Thurmond of St. Louis, Dorothea Worley of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John Bartels of St. Louis; a sister, Ella Boose of St. Marys; 23 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, a sister, and stepmother.

Friends may call at Basler Funeral Home in Ste. Genevieve after 4 p.m. today.

Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Immaculate Church, with the Rev. Richard Kasznel officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
