ALTENBURG -- Funeral service for Hertha G. Haertling of Altenburg will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Willard Kassulke will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel from 5-9 p.m. today, and 6:30-8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Haertling, 88, died Tuesday, July 25, 1995, at her home.

She was born Sept. 7, 1906, at Pocahontas, daughter of Fred and Katherine Perr Ruehling. She and Edgar A. Haertling were married Sept. 21, 1924. He died Jan. 23, 1991.

Haertling was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Altenburg Senior Citizens and Golden Age Organization.

Survivors include three sons, Norman Haertling of Altenburg, Leonard Haertling of Nashville, Ill., and Edgar Haertling of Steeleville, Ill.; three daughters, Vernell Steiner of Jackson, Elaine Hadler of Bridgeton, Gladys Prevallet of Simpsonville, S.C.; 27 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, sister, brother and great-granddaughter.
