MILL CREEK, Ill. -- Funeral service for Merlin Pecord of Mill Creek will be held at 10 a.m. today at Mill Creek Baptist Church, with the Rev. Bill Joyce officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro is in charge of arrangements.

Pecord, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 6, 1995, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1911, in Willard, son of Jerry H. and Jennie Schlamer Pecord. He and Lena Deckard were married Sept. 30, 1932, in Cairo. She died Sept. 15, 1981.

Pecord was a retired farmer. He was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church, adult Sunday School teacher, and chairman of the Deacons Board.

Survivors include two sons, Merlin Pecord of Adelanto, Calif., Robert Pecord of Cache; a daughter, Linda Burris of Jonesboro; a brother, Jerry Pecord of Cache; 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister.
