LILBOURN -- Lucy Glover, 101, of Lilbourn died Saturday, Aug. 19, 1995, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born July 22, 1894, in Winona, Miss., the daughter of Jean and Sarah Ann Johnson Vance. On March 4, 1916, she married Reed Glover in Sunflower, Miss., and the couple had 13 children. Mr. Glover died Feb. 11, 1970. Seven of their children also preceded her in death.

She lived in Missouri for more than 53 years. She was a member of the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lilbourn, where she served on the Mother Board, as a mission leader for the church and as Sunday school teacher. She also organized Sunday school in the North Lilbourn Project and was a former mid-wife. She had lunch with Gov. Mel Carnahan during the Conference on Aging in Kansas City in 1994.

Survivors include six daughters, Mae Ghoston of Winona, Miss., Ollie Sumpter of East St. Louis, Ill., Lee F. Cannon and Mattie Walls, both of Chicago, Melzenia Bonds of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Connie Borders of Los Angeles, Calif.; 37 grandchildren; 78 great grandchildren; and 57 great-great grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by seven children

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lilbourn. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at True Holiness New Life Fellowship Church of God in Christ in Lilbourn. The Rev. Godfrey Wilson will officiate, and burial will be in Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron. Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Howardville is in charge of arrangements.
