CAIRO, Ill. -- Graveside memorial service for Eugene James Dowd of El Paso, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Calvary Cemetery in Villa Ridge. The Rev. Bill McGhee will officiate.

Jones Funeral Home in Villa Ridge is in charge of arrangements.

Dowd, 64, died Tuesday, March 14, 1995, at Columbia Medical Center West.

He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Cairo, son of John Joseph and Clara Myers Dowd.

Dowd was a graduate of St. Joseph High School in Cairo, and attended Roosevelt University in Chicago.

He was an auditor and later administrator in the Chicago office of the California Tax Franchise Board. He then worked for the Multistate Tax Commission and retired as manager of the Chicago office. He served in the National Guard Reserves.

Survivors include a nephew, Dennis Dowd of Aurora, Colo.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
