Funeral service for Murrell G. "Cotton" Hampton of Anchorage, Alaska, will be held at 1 p.m. today at Kehl's Forest Lawn Chapel in Anchorage. The Rev. David Pierson will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Richarson National Cemetery, with full military rites.

Hampton, 71, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 1995, at Elmendorf Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 25, 1923, in Cape Girardeau. He moved to Alaska in 1962.

Hampton served in the U.S. Air Force from 1941-66. He had worked for Western Offshore Fluor Corp., Arco Alaska, in motorhome sales, and since 1993 had owned a pilot-car service. He was a member of Presbyterian Church of San Angelo, Texas, and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sons, Bruce Hampton of North Pole, Stephen Hampton of Anchorage, and six grandchildren.
