ANDREW J. LAYTON

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Andrew J. Layton of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Dale Merritt will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Layton, 68, died Monday, Oct. 23, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born May 23, 1927, in Wilson, Ark., son of Albert G. and Mabel Hilliard Layton. He and Freda Williams were married May 28, 1949, in Piggott, Ark.

Layton was a claims supervisor with Missouri Division of Employment Security 31 years, retiring in September 1987. He attended Miner Baptist Church and was a member of Sikeston Elks Lodge. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, and a daughter, Sheila Layton of Nashville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
