CHARLESTON -- Ruth Mae McCann, 77, of Charleston, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 1995, at Bluff Manor in Poplar Bluff. She was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Arkansas, daughter of Noah and Lena Cunningham Grisso. She and Fred Lee McCann were married in August 1940. He died Dec. 16, 1978...

CHARLESTON -- Ruth Mae McCann, 77, of Charleston, died Thursday, Nov. 2, 1995, at Bluff Manor in Poplar Bluff.

She was born Feb. 4, 1918, in Arkansas, daughter of Noah and Lena Cunningham Grisso. She and Fred Lee McCann were married in August 1940. He died Dec. 16, 1978.

McCann retired in 1978 as a seamstress at Knight's Department Store in Charleston. She was a member of Gravel Ridge Baptist Church.

Survivors include four sons, Noah McCann of Roseville, Calif., Thomas McCann of Tracy, Calif., Donial McCann of Charleston, Darryl McCann of Arcadia; five daughters, Nelda Bess of Poplar Bluff, Pat Crawford of Charleston, Maxine Winder of Farmington, Diana Cranick of Marion, Ill., Evelyn Whitworth of Granite City, Ill.; two stepsons, James McCann of St. Louis, Charles McCann of Edwardsville, Ill.; a stepdaughter, Bernice Coffer of O'Fallon; 29 grandchildren, and 31 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Paul Whitworth, a grandson, officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
