JESSE W. MEGGS SR.

BLOOMSDALE -- Jesse W. Meggs Sr., 64, of Bloomsdale died Thursday, Nov. 16, 1995, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Crystal City.

He was born April 24, 1931, in Cherry Valley, Ark., to William C. Meggs Sr. and Zella Robertson Meggs.

He was a correctional officer for more than 20 years at Statesville, Ill., and Pontiac, Ill. He was a member of the Mounds, Ill., Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include a son, Jesse W. Meggs Jr. of Johnson City, Ill.; a daughter, Laurie Mize of Bloomsdale; four brothers, William "Bill" Meggs Jr. of Cape Girardeau, Johnny Meggs and Teddy Meggs of East Cape Girardeau, Ill., and Anthony Meggs of Wycliffe, Ky.; four sisters, Norie Lovell of Dupo, Ill., Imajean Snell of Carbondale, Ill., Brenda Turner of Millersville and Rosemary Inserra of East Cape Girardeau; and six grandchildren.

Visitation is from 4-8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau. Funeral services is at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Olive Branch, Ill., Cemetery.
