MARBLE HILL -- Funeral service for Norman Hartle Phelps of Marble Hill will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home in Jackson. The Revs. Michael Woods and Virgil Bunch will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. A rose croix service will be held at 7 and Masonic service at 7:30.

Phelps, 92, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 26, 1903, in Burfordville, son of Thomas Benjamin and Rachel Virginia Noce Phelps. He and Delma Fern Helderman were married Aug. 12, 1930, at Van Buren. She died May 3, 1995.

Phelps owned and operated Patton Produce Co. a number of years, retiring in 1967 and moving to Marble Hill. He was Bollinger County collector from 1963-71. Phelps served on the Bollinger County Library Board and Patton School Board.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church at Marble Hill and its board; member and past master of Trowell Masonic Lodge 440, member and past worthy patron of Victory Chapter 431 Order of Eastern Star, both in Marble Hill; was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason; past district deputy of both the 49th District of Missouri and the 49th District Association.

Phelps was also a member of Moolah Temple in St. Louis; Sword of Bunker Hill Grand Order of Illinois; Andrew Jackson Order 43 in Jackson; Bollinger County Historical Society; Farm Bureau; Shriners Club in Cape Girardeau, and had been active in Boy Scouting.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
