GRACE SAWYER

JACKSON -- Grace Sawyer, 85, formerly of Jackson, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 21, 1910, at Birch Tree, daughter of Henry and Francis Vaughn Vaugh. She and John William McLemore were married in 1927. He died in 1956. She and Ervin Sawyer were married Aug. 24, 1959. He died March 4, 1982.

Sawyer had been a cook at Sands Restaurant, Ranch House in Jackson, and Southeast Missouri Hospital, retiring in 1972. She was a member of First Christian Church in Chaffee.

Survivors include three sons, Chuck McLemore of Marine, Ill., Bob McLemore of Jackson, Don McLemore of Chaffee; four daughters, Bessie Kynion of Marine, Betty Green and Wanda King of Cape Girardeau, Shirley Vance of Advance; a brother, Gale Vaugh of Oletha, Kan.; four sisters, Daisy Craig, Mandie Spurgion, Velma Haynes and Mary Sallee, all of Winona; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and grandson.

Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Luther Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
