PERRYVILLE -- Dale Thomas Smith, 61, of Perryville died Thursday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 10, 1934 in St. Louis, son of the late Clarence I. and Laura Smith. He married LaVerne L. Roth on June 16, 1962. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah Lynn Bess of Cape Girardeau; a son, Barry Neal Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a granddaughter; and a sister of St. Louis...

PERRYVILLE -- Dale Thomas Smith, 61, of Perryville died Thursday at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 10, 1934 in St. Louis, son of the late Clarence I. and Laura Smith.

He married LaVerne L. Roth on June 16, 1962. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Deborah Lynn Bess of Cape Girardeau; a son, Barry Neal Smith of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a granddaughter; and a sister of St. Louis.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters.

He was a retired professional Scouter for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Kiwanis and Rotary Club.

Visitation will be today from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Young and Sons Chapel, with Rev. Charles Weber officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Boy Scout National Conference.
