MARTHA A. DEMPSTER

BENTON -- Martha Ann Dempster, 67, of Benton, died Sunday, July 10, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Benton, daughter of Joseph and Mary Enderle Spalding. She and Daniel M. Dempster were married May 21, 1948, at Benton. He died Sept. 12, 1991.

Dempster had been a telephone operator at Benton, worked at Nickerson Farms and M&M Drive-In at Benton. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, and had been active in Girl Scouting. She was a 1944 graduate of Benton High School.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Dempster of Piedmont, John Ulmer of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Geri Cheatham of Sikeston, Teri Buckenmyer of Cape Girardeau; her mother of Benton; a brother, Joe Spalding of Benton; three sisters, Mary Schweer and Ida Roper of Benton, Sally Asmus of Oran, and seven grandchildren.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Benton from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Denis Church, with the Rev. Martin Culligan officiating. Burial will be in St. Denis Cemetery.
