EAST PRAIRIE -- James Mitchell Fent, 80, of Midlothian, Ill., died Monday, July 25, 1994, in Palos Community Hospital in Palos Heights, Ill. He was formerly of East Prairie.

He was born June 21, 1914, in Morning Sun, Iowa, son of Joseph and Mary Hewitt Fent. He and Inez Grissom were married May 27, 1941, at Palmyra.

Fent had lived in Midlothian 48 years. He was a retired Diesel mechanic, and lifetime member of VFW Post 2580 there. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife, and a sister, Ida Thomas of Redwood City, Calif.

Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie after 4 p.m. Thursday.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in East Prairie Memorial Park.
