MILL CREEK, Ill. -- Joseph "Buddy" Powles, 81, of Mill Creek, Ill., died Thursday, July 28, 1994 at Union County Hospital in Anna.

He was born May 31, 1913 at Mill Creek, the son of Calvin and Birdie Williams Powles.

On June 6, 1934, he married Reba Jordan. She preceded him in death Aug. 17, 1991.

He attended Mill Creek Baptist Church and was a member of Modern Woodmen. He retired from Goodyear Tire in Chicago and was a member of the United Rubber Workers union.

He is survived by two sons, Marvin L. Powles, Mill Creek, Jerry D. Powles, Waukegan; two daughters, Jodean Johns, Dongola, Nadine Lynch, Gurnee, Ill.; 14 grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren.

One brother, one grandchild and one great-grandchild preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at Crain Funeral Home in Dongola with the Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
