IRENE RUSSELL

MOUNDS, Ill. -- Irene Russell, 83, of Mounds died Sunday, Aug. 14, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Jan. 14, 1911, in Johnson County, the daughter of David and Sarah Elizabeth Ward Jackson. She was married to Virgil Clifton Russell, who preceded her in death on May 14, 1974.

She was a homemaker, a member of First Baptist Church in Mounds and a member of the SMILES 1 Senior Citizens Center in Mounds.

Survivors include a son, Jim Russell of Olive Branch; two daughters, Betty Lentz of Mounds and Elizabeth Axley of Morton, Ill.; a sister, Mabel Irvin of Champagne, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Mounds, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Quintin Davis and the Rev. F.M. Speakman will officiate, and burial will be in Spencer Heights Cemetery in Mounds.
