ADVANCE -- Gertrude Francis Swinford, 86, of Advance, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1994, at her home. She was born June 3, 1908, in Advance, daughter of Luke and Minnie Jones Bass. She and Luther Swinford were married June 24, 1925, at Benton. He died in 1937...

ADVANCE -- Gertrude Francis Swinford, 86, of Advance, died Tuesday, Aug. 30, 1994, at her home.

She was born June 3, 1908, in Advance, daughter of Luke and Minnie Jones Bass. She and Luther Swinford were married June 24, 1925, at Benton. He died in 1937.

Swinford was a member of Bible Tabernacle Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include four sons, Lester Swinford of Advance, Eugene Swinford of Scott City, Bob Swinford of St. Louis, Billy Swinford of Las Vegas, Nev.; a daughter, Lillian Kaempfer of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Lucille Westbrook of Advance; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau from 4-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Crawford officiating. Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park at Advance.
