CAIRO, Ill. -- John J. Bucher, 86, of Fairview Heights, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. He was born Aug. 17, 1908, son of Carl and Mary Levitt Bucher. His wife, Elsie, died in 1987. Prior to retiring, he was owner of Bucher's Automotive Garage in Cairo. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church here, 4th Degree member of Cairo Knights of Columbus Council 1027, and member of Egyptian Country Club...

CAIRO, Ill. -- John J. Bucher, 86, of Fairview Heights, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1994, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.

He was born Aug. 17, 1908, son of Carl and Mary Levitt Bucher. His wife, Elsie, died in 1987.

Prior to retiring, he was owner of Bucher's Automotive Garage in Cairo. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church here, 4th Degree member of Cairo Knights of Columbus Council 1027, and member of Egyptian Country Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Martha Vallina of Fairview Heights; two sisters, Delores Bissell of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Anna Rink of Anna; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo after 5 p.m. Thursday. The rosary will be recited at 7.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. William McGhee officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
