ALTA R. SMITH

ANNA, Ill. -- Alta Ruth Smith, 63, of Anna, died Sunday, Oct. 23, 1994, at Hillside Terrace Nursing Home in Cobden.

She was born June 5, 1931, in Tamms, daughter of the Rev. David H. and Grace Small Smith.

Smith was a graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Vo-Tech Beauty School, and attended Mary Hardin Baylor College for Women in Texas.

She was a beautician in Anna many years and at Annavista in recent years. She was also a child care provider. Smith was a member of First Baptist Church here.

Survivors include two brothers, David Smith Jr. of Hot Springs Village, Ark., Paul Smith of Huntington Beach, Calif.; three sisters, Betty Dunn of Pinckneyville, Margie Sowells of Harrisburg, and Marie McDonnough of Zavalla, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Anna after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Larry Shacklee officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
