BLOOMFIELD -- Gertie Davis, 75, of Piggott, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994, at St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark. She was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Advance, daughter of Joe and Grace Napier Bess. She and Norman Cooper were married Aug. 29, 1936. He died July 7, 1944. She then married Silas Underwood July 20, 1946, who died Sept. 5, 1956. She later married Curtis Davis...

BLOOMFIELD -- Gertie Davis, 75, of Piggott, Ark., died Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1994, at St. Bernard Hospital in Jonesboro, Ark.

She was born Feb. 23, 1918, in Advance, daughter of Joe and Grace Napier Bess. She and Norman Cooper were married Aug. 29, 1936. He died July 7, 1944. She then married Silas Underwood July 20, 1946, who died Sept. 5, 1956. She later married Curtis Davis.

Davis lived most of her life in Stoddard County, and was a member of the Christian Church at Swinton.

Survivors include a son, Norman Dwain Cooper of Whitewater; three daughters, Melva McFarland of Benton, Shelby Mullins of Piggott, Carol Propst of Dexter; a sister, Thela Hood of St. Charles; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Chiles-Cooper Funeral Chapel in Bloomfield. The Rev. Jerry Cooper will officiate, with burial in Rock Point Cemetery near Swinton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.
