She was born at Puxico on Dec. 16, 1896, daughter of George Murdock and Nancy Shoemate Murdock. She married Cecil Lawrence Whitesell on Sept. 18, 1924. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1980...

CHAFFEE -- Esther Lillian Whitesell. 97, of Chaffee, died at the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center Saturday, Jan. 8, 1994.

She was born at Puxico on Dec. 16, 1896, daughter of George Murdock and Nancy Shoemate Murdock.

She married Cecil Lawrence Whitesell on Sept. 18, 1924. He preceded her in death on July 9, 1980.

Survivors include a son, Frank Whitesell, Keyesport, Ill.; two daughters, Francine Payne of Whitewater and Erline Whitesell, Chaffee; six grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.

Service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with the Rev. Kenneth Roberts, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Puxico City Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
