SIKESTON -- Herman Richard Ray, 80, of Sikeston, died Monday, Jan. 10, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 15, 1913, at Wardell, son of Rev. A.E. and Estelle Maud Owen Ray. He and Leota M. Stark were married in 1933. She died in 1946. He then married Dixie Beauton Helms Sept. 11, 1948.
Ray worked 19 years at International Shoe Co., and was a lineman 25 years with Scott-New-Madrid-Mississippi Counties Electrical Co-Op. He was a member of Murray Lane Baptist Church, and had been a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Thomas Ray of Sikeston; four daughters, Armetha Taylor of Morehouse, Tonnie Lambert of Houston, Texas, Teresa McGill of Bertrand, Brenda Pinkley of Malden; a brother, Rev. Lawrence Ray of Sikeston; a sister, Lois Krauss of Sikeston; 13 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, brother and two sisters.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel. The Revs. Kelley Grubbs and Ted Wimberly will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
