SCOTT CITY -- Charles William "Chuck" Cox, 34, of Scott City, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born June 20, 1959, at Chanute, Kan., son of Dr. Robert L. and Betty Scott Cox.

He married Deborah Curse, April 3, 1993, at Cape Girardeau.

Cox was a teacher.

He was a member of the Illmo Baptist Church, the Missouri State Teacher's Association, the Missouri Music Education Association and the Singing Disciples Gospel Quartet in Waynesville, Mo. He was also a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.

Cox graduated from Central High School in Cape Girardeau in 1977, and received a bachelor's degree in vocal music in 1982 from Southeast Missouri State University.

He was a former minister of music at the Delta Baptist Church and a former deacon of the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.

Cox was an elementary music teacher at the Pick Elementary School in Waynesville, Mo., for 10 years.

Survivors include his parents of Cape Girardeau; his wife; a step-son, Neil Sanders of Scott City; two step-daughters, Lisa Sanders and Sarah Uelsmann, both of Scott City; and two brothers, Robert L. Cox Jr. of Jackson, Scott Cox of Poplar Bluff.

Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Rev. Leland Holland officiating.

Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
