NEW HAMBURG -- Funeral service for Paul Conrad Blattel of New Hamburg will be held at 10 a.m. today at St. Lawrence Catholic Parish Center. The Rev. Amel Shibley will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee is in charge of arrangements.

Blattel, 77, died Monday, March 28, 1994, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 25, 1916, at New Hamburg, son of Phillip John and Mary Julia Hahn Blattel. He and Cyrilla Rosa Menz were married Aug. 9, 1941, at New Hamburg. She died Dec. 31, 1990.

Blattel was a retired receiving clerk at Thorngate Ltd. in Chaffee. He was a member of St. Lawrence Church and St. Joseph's Men's Sodality. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include a son, John Blattel of Jefferson City; a daughter, Mary Ann Stricker of Charleston; a sister, Wilma Cook of St. Louis, and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.
