James Daniel Morrison, 61, 1828 LaWanda, died Thursday, March 31, 1994, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born Jan. 2, 1933, in East St. Louis, Ill., son of Daniel and Inez Hammond Morrison. He and Clara Pinkston were married June 23, 1956, in East St. Louis.

The Morrisons moved to Cape Girardeau in August 1962, where he was employed by Standard Oil Co. He then worked at Auto Tire and Parts, owned Cape Automotive four years, and was currently a buyer at Horton Sales.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge and other Masonic affiliations. He was president of Cape Jaycees in 1967, was past district vice president of Missouri Jaycees, and past president of Cape Shrine Club.

Morrison was a technical sergeant and a forward observer in Korea with the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James Morrison of Bloomington, Ill.; a daughter, Elaine Cook of Springdale, Ark.; his mother of Cape Girardeau, and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ernest Swartz officiating. There will be a Cape Shrine Club honor guard at the service. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
