ADVANCE - Franklin Oaks Farrar, 97, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of rural Advance, died Saturday, May 21, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 14, 1896, in Marquand, to Dr. Jerome and Emma Kappler Farrar. On June 24, 1923, he married Edith Humphrey at Advance. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1985...

ADVANCE - Franklin Oaks Farrar, 97, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of rural Advance, died Saturday, May 21, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 14, 1896, in Marquand, to Dr. Jerome and Emma Kappler Farrar.

On June 24, 1923, he married Edith Humphrey at Advance. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Billy F. Farrar of Rolla, and Carl Farrrar of Cape Girardeau; six daughters, Jane Henrichsen of Port Huenem, Calif., Mary Evans and Dorothy Bowers, both of Cape Girardeau; Juanita Farrar of Tulsa, Okla., Verda Minton of Vichy, and Alice Ketcher of California, Mo.

Other survivors include one sister, Mary Souers of Cape Girardeau, 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, one sister, and one great grandson.

Farrar was a veteran of World War 1 and served in the National Guard. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Advance United Methodist Church.

Friends may call from 3-9 p.m., Monday, at the Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, at 2 p.m., in the Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance.

Burial will be in Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
