Matheney died Friday, May 27, 1994 at the Union County Hospital in Anna.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; three brothers, Leon and Billy Joe Matheney, both of Cobden, and Daniel Wayne Matheney of Indiana; and two sisters, Joan Spiller of Cobden and Frances Matheney of Jonesboro.
