EAST PRAIRIE - Ruth L. Hicks, 63, of rural East Prairie, died Friday, June 10, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. She was born Sept. 11, 1930, in East Prairie, to Thomas and Sadie Woodard Parker. On Jan. 13, 1952, she married Charles R. Hicks. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1983...

EAST PRAIRIE - Ruth L. Hicks, 63, of rural East Prairie, died Friday, June 10, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

She was born Sept. 11, 1930, in East Prairie, to Thomas and Sadie Woodard Parker.

On Jan. 13, 1952, she married Charles R. Hicks. He preceded her in death on April 29, 1983.

Survivors include one son, Charles "Eddie" Hicks of East Prairie; two daughters, Brenda Baker of East Prairie and Charlene Thresher of La Center, Ky.; two brothers, George "Nig" Parker of East Prairie and Roy L. Parker of Logan, Ill. Seven grandchildren and two great granddaughters also survive.

Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

Hicks lived her entire life in Mississippi County, where she was a member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Friends may call after 4:30 p.m., today, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Funeral services will be held Monday, at 1 p.m., at the McMikle Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.

Burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery.
