Funeral service for Opal M. Ward of Cape Girardeau was held Saturday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Ed Dodson officiated, with burial in Fairmount Cemetery.
Ward, 79, died Thursday, Jan. 7, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born March 13, 1913, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of John and Ida Evans Sledge. She married William Archie Ward July 13, 1929, in Jonesboro, Ill. He died Dec. 1, 1985.
Ward worked at International Shoe Co. 46 years, and was a member of Third Street United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Jerry Ward of Murphysboro, Ill., Toby Ward of Lake Villa, Ill.; a daughter, Vickie Slinkard, Cape Girardeau Route 1; two sisters, Geraldine Johnson of Blodgett, Geneva Ray of Laconia, N.H.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
