Norman L. "Bill" Jones, 72, 1417 N. Water, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1993, at his home.

He was born July 10, 1920, at Stroderville, son of Clarence and Mary Proffer Jones. He and Hazel Adams were married in February 1937, in Cape Girardeau. She died March 17, 1985.

Jones was a self-employed painter, and member of Red Star Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Survivors include two sons, Teddy and Rocky Jones of Cape Girardeau; four daughters, June Trovillion, Judy Farrow and Janet Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau, Wilma Howard of San Antonio, Texas; three brothers, Albert and Cleo Jones of Cape Girardeau, George Jones of Los Angeles, Calif.; five sisters, Jeanette Howard of Dallas, Texas, Ruby Dais of Santa Maria, Calif., Ruth Rhodes of Cape Girardeau, Larnie Simmons and Hazel Brooks of St. Louis; 28 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and five sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate, with burial in Dongola Cemetery at Dongola, Mo.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
