Viola A. Godwin, 82, 1628 Perryville Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Nov. 29, 1910, in Bollinger County, daughter of Grover C. and Rhoda James Crites. She and John Woodrow Godwin were married April 12, 1929, at Jackson.

Godwin worked at International Shoe Co. in Jackson, and was manager of the candy department at JC Penney in Wellston from 1956-60. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Patty Masiakiewicz of St. Charles, Colette Staicoff of Granite City, Ill., Carolyn Bindbeutel of Florissant; two brothers, Grover Crites of Belleville, Ill., Dr. W.W. Crites of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Loren McDowell, Jackson Route 4; eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Revs. John Owen and S.S. Borum will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-9 p.m. today.
