CAIRO, Ill. -- Robert H. Gibson, 66, of Cairo, died Wednesday, Jan. 27, 1993, at his home.
He was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Cairo, son of Cecil and Bessie Foster Gibson. He married the former Xandra Lentz.
Gibson was a salesman with Interstate Flooring Distributors in Sikeston, and L&P Carpet in Anna and Cairo before retiring. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, served on the parish council, member of Cairo Elks 651, and Cairo Knights of Columbus 1027, where he served as past grand knight and was a 4th Degree member. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Michael Gibson of Paducah, Ky., David and Timothy Gibson of Cairo; a sister, Mary Reed of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother, Jack Gibson of Sarasota, Fla., and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. Jerome Fortenberry will officiate, with burial in Calvary Cemetery at Villa Ridge.
Friends may call at Barkett Funeral Home here after 5 p.m. today. The rosary will be at 7, and Elks service at 7:30.
