MORLEY -- J.M. "Murphy" Griffin, 79, of Morley, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born March 9, 1913, in Jasper, Ala., son of William Jackson and Corda Estella Atteberry Griffin. He and Georgia Pearl Hagy were married Feb. 17, 1940, at Benton. She died March 9, 1992...

MORLEY -- J.M. "Murphy" Griffin, 79, of Morley, died Monday, Feb. 1, 1993, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 9, 1913, in Jasper, Ala., son of William Jackson and Corda Estella Atteberry Griffin. He and Georgia Pearl Hagy were married Feb. 17, 1940, at Benton. She died March 9, 1992.

Griffin was a retired bus drive and custodian for Scott County Central High School.

Survivors include three sons, Ron Griffin of Bloomfield, John and Dick Griffin of Morley; four daughters, Betty Emerson of Morley, Sandy Abner of Bell City, Marsha Centanni of Scott City, Jane Rogers of Hillsboro; his mother of Sikeston; two brothers, Norman Griffin of Vanduser, Bond Griffin of Bloomfield; two sisters, Evelyn Seabaugh of Cape Girardeau, Bernice Eason of Sikeston; 23 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two grandsons, two brothers and a sister.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston. The Rev. Jim Robinson will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
