EDNA BERNICE BUCKETT

She was born Dec. 18, 1908, in Arkansas to the late John and Ruth Meyers. She had lived in the St. Louis area for the past 15 years and was a member of the Shepley Church of Christ in St. Louis. She married William Virgil Burkett on Sept. 15, 1925. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1977. Three sons, one daughter, four brothers and six sisters also preceded her in death...

BRIDGETON -- Edna Bernice Burkett, 84, of Bridgeton and formerly of Mississippi County died May 3, 1993, at DePaul Hospital in Bridgeton.

She was born Dec. 18, 1908, in Arkansas to the late John and Ruth Meyers. She had lived in the St. Louis area for the past 15 years and was a member of the Shepley Church of Christ in St. Louis.

She married William Virgil Burkett on Sept. 15, 1925. He preceded her in death on May 16, 1977. Three sons, one daughter, four brothers and six sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are two sons, William H. Burkett of St. Louis and Thomas Burkett of Eureka; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Jim Walters of Bloomsdale officiating.

Interment will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
