EAST PRAIRIE -- James O. "Pee Wee" Britt, 75, of East Prairie died Friday, May 28, 1993, at his home.

He was born Feb. 21, 1918, at Thirty Four Corner, the son of Golder Lee and Mary Magnolia Martin Britt. On Oct. 11, 1966, he married Marie Imogene Britt, who survives of the home.

He lived in Mississippi County throughout his life, where he owned and operated Pee Wee's Tavern in East Prairie. He also was a member of the Big Book Club near East Prairie.

Other survivors include four sons, James O. Britt of Jackson, Ricky S. Ashcraft of East Prairie, Eugene Ashcraft of Ervin, Texas, and Gary W. Ashcraft of New Port, N.C.; nine daughters, Joyce Ann Barker of Forth Worth, Texas, Betty Jane McCarver of St. Charles, Orvillene Gage of Diehlstadt, Frankie Joe Skeleton of Charleston, Patricia Leah Jackson, Debbie Blumenberg and Marlys Coffer, all of East Prairie, Donna Farie of Jackson, and Shirley Bone of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Carl R. Britt of Luceme Valley, Calif. and Wayne Britt of Reno, Nev.; 30 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and 14 brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. today at the Selby Funeral Chapel in East Prairie. The Rev. Larry Smith will officiate, and burial will be in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie.
