MOUND CITY, Ill. -- Vera M. Smithey, 91, of Mound City, died Monday, June 7, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Aug. 30, 1901, in Kentucky, daughter of John C. and Martha E. Allbritton Meriedeth. She married Tom Smithey, who preceded her in death.

Smithey was a member of Modern Woodmen of the World.

Survivors include a nephew, Bob Cross of Belleville, Ill.; a great-niece and two great-nephews.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Barkett Funeral Chapel in Mounds. The Rev. Eugene Williams will officiate, with burial in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today.
