James E. Walter, 77, of Cape Girardeau, died Wednesday, July 7, 1993, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Aug. 19, 1915, son of Edward and Amelia LaPlant Walter.
Walter was a retired inspector with United States Department of Agriculture. He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church here, and VFW in Chicago. He was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a sister, Agatha Aldred of Manassas, Va.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Mound City, Ill. The Rev. Bill McGhee will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery at Mounds, Ill.
Friends may call Friday at the church from 8 a.m. to service time.
Barkett Funeral Home at Mounds is in charge of arrangements.
