EAST PRAIRIE -- Charles L. Weakley, 70, of East Prairie died Saturday, July 10, 1993, at his home.
He was born Nov. 27, 1922, at Mississippi County, the son of John Walter and Nora Thomas Dameworth Weakley. On June 15, 1940, he married Mary Virginia Ledbetter, who preceded him in death Oct. 11, 1988.
He lived in Mississippi County his entire life, where he was employed with McTigue Construction Company in East Prairie until his retirement in 1978. He also was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include five sons, Charles L. Weakley Jr. of Charleston, Harvey W., James and Jerry Weakley, all of East Prairie, and Donald Weakley of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Linda Sparks of Wyatt and Karla Walker of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Chester Weakley of Glen Allen; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A son, a daughter, four brothers and three sisters also preceded him in death.
Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Monday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, where funeral service will be at 1 p.m. The Rev. Bill Meeks will officiate, and burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston.
