William Ross Kight, 57, of Cape Girardeau, died Friday, July 23, 1993, at Methodist South Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

He was born Oct. 13, 1935, at Arbor, son of Hobert and Oleta Irwin Kight. He and Frances Tweedy were married July 31, 1965, at Randles.

Kight was an over-the-road truck driver 34 years. He was employed by Overnite Transportation the past 10 years, with Inman 14 years, and Harris Truck and Trailer 10 years.

He received the Missouri State Driver of the Year award in 1987 from Missouri State Truckers Association.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Jeffrey, Kendall, Benjamin and Jonathan Kight of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Paula Holloman and Peggy Johnson of Lubbock, Texas; two brothers, Hobert Kight of Delta, Joe Kight of Jackson; two sisters, Marilyn Steck of Cape Girardeau, Pat Barker of East Prairie; three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Luther Rhodes will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
