BERTHA PONDER

PERRYVILLE -- Bertha Ponder, 90, of Perryville, died Sunday, Sept. 26, 1993, at Perry County Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 21, 1903, at Uniontown, daughter of John E. and Philomena Josephine Winschel Unterreiner. She and Anton C. Ponder were married April 18, 1921, at Apple Creek. He died Jan. 21, 1981.

Ponder was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality at Apple Creek.

Survivors include three sons, Norbert and Eddie Ponder of Perryville, Robert Ponder of St. Ann; three daughters, Virginia Wibbenmeyer of Sikeston, Genevieve Schloss and Antonia "Toni" Schnurbusch of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Adolph Unterreiner of Bridgeton; a sister, Gertrude Balsmann of Uniontown; 21 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Jim Unterreiner will officiate, with burial in the church cemetery.

Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville from 3-9 p.m. today. A wake will be held at 7.
