Clifton J. Brooks, 91, of 3120 Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 1993 at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Dec. 16, 1901 in Farmdale, Ohio, the son of Ira J. Brooks and Blanche Wing Brooks.

He married Fidelia Wallace in September 1935 in Kinsman, Ohio. She survives.

He worked as an electrical engineer for Cleveland Electric Illuminating Co. He was an active member of the Hiram Christian Church in Hiram, Ohio, having served as a church elder.

He was also involved in Boy Scouting and with Friendlytown, a program in the Cleveland, Ohio area for inner city youth.

He had lived in Cape Girardeau since April 1991.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Richard Brooks, Carbondale, Ill., David Brooks, Duncanville, Texas, Donald Brooks, Riverdale, N.Y.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One brother preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Hiram, Ohio. Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau is in charge of arrangements.
