JACKSON -- Woodrow A. Statler, 78, formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993, at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 78. He was born July 14, 1915 at Sedgewickville, son of Rudolph and Catherine Bollinger Statler. He married Hazel Bollinger on March 17, 1933. She died on May 12, 1985...

JACKSON -- Woodrow A. Statler, 78, formerly of Jackson, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 1993, at the Missouri Veterans' Home in Cape Girardeau at the age of 78.

He was born July 14, 1915 at Sedgewickville, son of Rudolph and Catherine Bollinger Statler.

He married Hazel Bollinger on March 17, 1933. She died on May 12, 1985.

Surviving are three sons, William "Ruddy" Statler of Pace, Fla., Gene A. Statler of Patton, and Glenn R. Statler of Sedgewickville; one daughter, Joy Englehart of Jackson; two sisters, Janie Crites of Gordonville and Grace Johnson of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

One daughter, a brother and a sister preceded him in death.

He was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He worked for the Jackson R-2 School District in the maintenance department from 1965 until 1976, when he retired.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, Excelsior Masonic Lodge in Jackson, and the Sword of Bunker Hill.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson with the Rev. Fred Rister officiating. Burial will be in the Sedgewickville Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service at 7:30 tonight.
