JANET L. UNDERWOOD

SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Janet Laverne Underwood of French Village was held Thursday at Irwin Funeral Chapel in Granite City, Ill. The Rev. David Fielding officiated, with burial in Sunset Hill Memorial Estates.

Underwood, 74, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1993, at Mineral Area Regional Hospital in Farmington.

She was born Feb. 16, 1919, at Scott City, daughter of Martin and Anna Hardin Hillemann. She and Grady Underwood were married April 5, 1940.

Underwood was formerly of Granite City, and a member of Hope Lutheran Church there.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jeff and Roger Underwood of Glen Carbon, Ill.; a brother, Albert Hillemann of Scott City; a sister, Virginia Joop of LaSalle, Ill., and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
