A.Y. HICKS

ORAN -- Arvel Yewell Hicks, 88, of Oran, died Thursday, Dec. 16, 1993, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Nov. 22, 1905, in Rector, Ark., son of Theodore E. and Rachel Jane Crossen Hicks. He and Viola Isabel Webber were married Dec. 1, 1925. She died Nov. 8, 1977. He later married Roxie Evans Brock April 30, 1979. She died April 26, 1993.

Hicks was a retired farmer, and had lived in the Oran-Scott City area since 1961.

Survivors include four sons, Warren Hicks of Bowling Green, Fla., Eddie Hicks, Sikeston Route 1, Ralph Hicks of Morley, T.E. Hicks of Bell City; four daughters, Jewell Moore of DeKalb, Ill., Gearldean Adcock of Iuka, Ill., Wanda Moore of Advance, Earleen Kirkpatrick of Morley; 32 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sons, a daughter and three grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. The Rev. Larie Burdine will officiate, with burial in New Morley Cemetery at Morley.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday.
