Viola L. Walter, 79, 226 S. Middle, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 24, 1912, at Kelso, daughter of Leo and Louisa Ziegler Diebold. She married George W. Walter Sept. 26, 1933, at Kelso. He preceded her in death.

Walter was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Survivors include Donald Walter of Vandalia, Ohio, Thomas Walter of Palmdale, Calif.; two daughters, Mary DeClue of Godfrey, Ill., Darlene Cotner of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Clara Brant of Jackson, Barbara Hopkins of Scott City, and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four sisters.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral. The Rev. Michael Zoellner will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7:30.
